Between 25-28 September, this year, Romania has attended for the first time as exhibitor the Bok & Bibliotek Book Fair in Göteborg, the largest cultural event in Scandinavia.The Romanian stand was organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm under the theme “Voices from Romania”. The Romanian presence has consisted of presenting translations from Romanian into Swedish and other foreign languages, the launching of the latest Romanian volumes published in Sweden with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute, as well as poetry readings and a photo gallery of portraits of Romanian writers. Also, RCI Stockholm has had the privilege of organising seven thematic workshops, with guest speakers from Romania, Sweden, Latvia and Great Britain.
The list of Romanian writers invited to the fair has included names such as those of Mircea Cărtărescu and Herta Müller, already familiar to the Swedish public, but also representatives of the new literature such as Adela Greceanu, Claudiu Komartin, Dan Sociu and Elena Vlădăreanu.
