Romania will be the guest of honour at the 2011 edition of the Liber International Book Fair, the largest editorial event in Spain, to take place in Madrid. 


The stand “Historia e historias” organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute this year at the 26th edition of the LIBER International Book Fair held in Barcelona between October 8-10, was visited by prominent editors, distributors and translators. Among those who requested and received information on the translation support programmes carried by the Romanian Cultural Institute through the National Book Centre were representatives of Baile Del Sol, Random House Mondadori, Icaria, Bibliogemma, Acantilado - Quaderns Crema, El Nadir, Mira, Pre-Textos, Tusquets, Artec, La Fabrica, Sígueme (Spain), LE BOUTON D’OR (Quebec), of Intramuros and Québec – Éditions, the website of the Quebec publishers. 


The stand exhibited over 300 titles coming from 22 Romanian publishing houses as well as volumes published with the financial support of the Romanian Cultural Institute. 12 volumes have already been published in Spain through our financing programmes (translations of Ana Blandiana, Max Blecher, Denisa Comănescu, Alexandru Ecovoiu, Mircea Eliade, Panait Istrati, Norman Manea, Camil Petrescu, Nicolae Steinhardt, Gheorghe Ceauşescu, Mihail Sebastian) and another eight are in press.
