Between the 18th and the 20th of March 2024, the submissions received within the 2024 call for applications of the Translation and Publication Support (TPS) and Publishing Romania were reviewed and assessed. For an objective and transparent selection, the panel of experts was selected through a national call for applications. The panel was formed by Eliza Claudia Filimon (associate professor and translator), Silvia Alexandra Ștefan (associate professor and translator) and Angelo Nicolae Mitchievici (university professor dr. habil., literary critic and essayist).
The available budget, publicly communicated when the 2024 session was launched, amounts to 1.800.000 lei. To be eligible for a grant, an application (a publisher) must fulfill two cumulative conditions: to fit into the announced budget of the current session and to accumulate at least 60 points after being assessed by the panel of experts.
There were 111 applications for the Translation and Publication Support programme and 4 applications for the Publishing Romania programme. The first 59 applications for this call for the Translation and Publication programme and the 3 applications for the Publishing Romania programme were granted financing, based on the scores resulting from the assessment of the evaluating panel, with the results being announced on the 1st of April 2024.
Later, after the CENNAC team contacted the foreign publishers declared winners on the 1st of April, and they confirmed the publication date for their winning projects, the amounts concerning those projects that will not come out this year have been redistributed to the following ranked projects.
The grants are provided on condition that the publishers agree to the terms of the contract to be concluded with the RCI. The deadline for signing the contracts between the Romanian Cultural Institute and the publishing houses is July 31st 2024.
